Meditation and Weight Loss

Have you ever heard of or considered meditation? At the advice of my therapist, I looked into it a few years ago to assist me in remaining calm and focused throughout the day.

No, I don’t have anger issues. Mental clarity plays a huge role in how our day plays out. Most of our days are jammed packed with decisions. From what to wear for the day, to what we are going to eat, to what route we are going to drive to work to by-pass construction, our days are filled with choices.

Meditation may also help with some of the following:

  • Improves Your Mental Health
  • Reduces Harmful Inflammation
  • Can help control cravings
  • Gives your brain a boost
  • Can fight premature aging
  • Can prevent the common cold
  • May help you address pain and pain management

For me… remaining calm, and collected, and having a clean head space absolutely improved how I perceived the success of my day. I often didn’t give any thought at all to helping my brain remained focused. After all, my brain works on auto pilot without much engagement from me at all.

So .. how does it work, and where do you begin? Well, I’m glad you asked.

There are few ways you can get started super easy. The thing I started with was an app for my phone called Headspace. It’s available for Andriod and IOS, and it will walk you through the process of how to meditate. With only a few minutes each day, you being by learning some simple breathing techniques that will help wind you down, keep you calm, and in general just make you feel better.

Or you can visit them online here to get started: https://www.headspace.com/

I love mediating first thing in the morning, and right before I do to bed! It’s a great way to start and end each day.

Once you understand the process, and how meditation works, you can start to introduce guided meditations targeted at specific topics.

For example…Here is a 13 minute video on You-tube targeted specifically to assist you with weight loss.

I recommend you start with headspace to get familiar with the practice of meditation and how it works before you being any of these guided meditation programs.

Crawl, Walk, Run… young grasshopper! 😉

In summary, meditation can be fun! It’s a great way to carve out 10-15 min of your day, specifically for you, with no interruptions. #selfcare is so important when it comes to weight loss, and keeping ones mind clear.

The best part is, you can do this just about anywhere. Once you know how to do it, you can make time for yourself just about anywhere and give it a go.
